Bad Times (I Can't Stand It) by Captain Rapp

hmm...

Is This The Future by Fatback

Isn't it funny how just about every 30 years or so we collectively forget what was so wrong with everything in the first place and are set back that much farther? It's eerie how people were crying out about things that are still just as bad now, but it was documented so long ago. Nothing ever happens and things just get worse.

Tropics (Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya Remix) by Apache Beat

Help Is On The Way by The Whatnauts

White Horse by Laid Back

'member this?!

You're The One For Me by D Train

The 12" is obvious dance-floor gold, but I prefer the LP version with Vocal/Piano intro.

Remember in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome when the children of the airplane crash "tell" about tomorrow-morrow land? And they say "'member this?" well: 'member this?

Love by Louis La Roché

The first time I heard this one was surfing blogs and someone was all freaked out because tb@daftpunk.com or whatever had sent this track to Big Stereo with no explanation so it was obviously the new Thomas Bangaltar track. To this day it's still in my CDJ case under TB, but it's not ol' Tommy, it's this 19 year old limey who's doing French Touch better than the frenchies. This one really get's the goat of the guys I work with some time at the show trailer shop out in Taylor when it comes up on the iPod. It gets me all PUMPED! I just love when some kind of filter-disco starts coming out of the box and an old guy truck driver will come over and ask, "IS IT STUCK?!" I then start to try to explain sampling and clubbing and drug use but then just shrug and go back to cutting plywood or whatever.

This Won't Change by Lester Tipton

The record-heads might think I'm going soft ("FRANKIE F-ING VALLI?!"). So... HOW ABOUT A $7000 45!

Oh, THE B-SIDE TOO?!?!

You Make Me Wanna Wiggle by Brothers Johnson

This is a tune that was sampled for Justice's track "New Jack." Which was actually my favorite on the † LP but the only one they didn't "perform" live at their Royal Oak show earlier this year.

Swearin' To God by Frankie Valli

This is a song that was featured on a 7 hour mix I made for my wedding. We drove out to Ikea last night and were singing along to each other in a really corny way! This record is also special to me because a one-record-DJ-set at Slow's consisted of it and ignited a 9 minute dance floor.

Try Love Again by Natural Four

Thanks to B-Rad for ripping this one. A CLASSIC!

I Had A Dream by Nathaniel Mayer

Detroit Today rebroadcasted a performance/interview with Nate today and choked me up on my way to lunch. I definitely miss the guy and actually have missed him for months now. I miss clowning with him and if a comment was a little out there for him he'd always say, "this guys crazy, MY DRUMMERS CRAZY!!" I liked being his crazy drummer and can't wait for our next jam session in the Infinite Oneness.

Can't Get Away From It (Live) & Establishments Blues by Rodriguez

Rodriguez is an anomaly. Check out some of the piles of press recently for his full story. I've had the pleasure of knowing Rodriguez for 3 or 4 years now. I was introduced to his records from loitering at Peoples Records and promptly found copies of both and wore them out soon after. Cold Fact was recently reissued on Light In The Attic, and is a CLASSIC! Here I present a track from said album called "This Is Not A Song, It's An Outburst - Or, The Establishment Blues" and as bonus a live performance of "Can't Get Away From It" featuring yours truly on drums from the recent release party.

Nathaniel Mayer passed away yesterday afternoon. It was not surprising considering a few strokes and his state of health in recent months. I consider Nate a dear friend and mentor, and am thrilled to have made wonderful music with him that I'm very proud of. He was truly a world class talent and will be dearly missed by many. Luckily we have his recordings to remember him by forever!! Here's one from an album we cut in Matt Smith's kitchen a couple years ago:

Lambs Anger Advert

Famously cut up by J Dilla on his Doughnuts album. This is a KILLER!

Supernature/Sweet Drums by Cerrone

What a classic! More recently famously used by Coast To Coast AM w/ George Noory (along with The Chase by G. Moroder). This guy is my hero. He is always flanked by naked women on his album sleeves, whether they actually took a photo together or it's a cut and paste job. A combination of Cerrone and Bohannon is where I possibly see myself in 5 years.

The Voice Of Q by Q

This is the voice of Q. It's on a few of the electro-funk top records lists. It's on my list. I was looking for it for a while until I found a copy in the dollar bin at Car City.

Check out this beat!!!

Clarke/Duke Project

OKAY! this is it for now from the Mojo tape. I'll post some actual clips from it soon, but these are just such great tracks! I remember Touch and Go from being a little kid. And yes, he did play two tracks from the same album within 15 minutes on the program. Remember when radio was radio?!

Touch And Go by Clarke/Duke Project

Voyage To Atlantis by Isley Bros.

Here's another stand out track from the Mojo 8 Track.

Shine Your Light by Graingers

About 5 years ago (or something) Brad Hales found an 8 track tape with Electrifying Mojo recorded on it. Some of that might end up here but for now here's one of the stand out tracks he played on that show:
